Spod and Marker rods lead a very heavy life so we have used high quality, high modulus 36t carbon (Low Resin for the 'S' Range Spod) with a full 3k weave and the 'Perdurable' lifetime blank finish. This makes the rods light for constant use. All rods are available in long range 40mm ringing (40/30/25/20/16 + 16 tip) and long range 50mm (50/40/30/20/16 + 16 tip).  

Our spod rods are built with plenty of action in the blanks so they can be easily compressed making them more accurate at short to medium range as well as long range. The MRS (Multi-Range Spod) will suit most people and is capable of casting in excess of 100 yards with spods up to around 6oz whilst the LRS (Long Range Spod) is suited to people who want to push spods serious distances or use very heavy particle filled spods such as our Big Bait Spod. All spod rods have a 1' depth mark up the rod in case of use as a long range marker rod.

A good marker rod is actually a lousy fishing rod! The top 18" or so need to be quite dead in action and this helps you to feel more of the contours of the lake bed – the reason why most carp rods are unsuitable for markering. Free Spirit was the first to offer dedicated marker rods knowing the importance of this tool.

We offer two actions – the Multi-Range Marker (MRM) and the Long Range Marker (LRM) – both are available in 40mm or long range 50mm ringing. The MRM (Multi-Range Marker) is suitable for the majority of anglers being capable of casting in excess of 100yards with leads up to 3½oz whilst the LRM (Long Range Marker) is suited to people who want to explore at extreme ranges with leads up to and exceeding 4oz. All marker rods have a 1' and 2' depth mark up the rod.
