The Free Spirit Philosophy

Although we have expanded our product range considerably you will still find many of the same robust products featured here. This is because we pride ourselves in making the best product we can, thoroughly prototyping and testing them for months or even years before we launch, ensuring they stand the test of time.

Unlike many companies we are happy to sell you a set of rods, some luggage or clothing and have you use them for many years knowing that your faith in our products will bring us future sales from other anglers by your personal recommendation.

The Free Spirit rod line up comprises 5 ranges. We try to offer a casting and playing tool for every angler and as a relatively small and exclusive company we can develop rods to satisfy the most discerning and exacting customer requirements that larger companies would not be interested in. You will find some very specialised rods in our ranges to cater for such needs.

Back-Up & Service

Although we experience very few returns in the event of a problem occurring with any Free Spirit product please contact the Free Spirit outlet from where you purchased the item. We will endeavour to rectify the problem as soon as possible with repair or replacement as appropriate. All Free Spirit items carry a conditional 12 month warranty and we pride ourselves in sorting out problems efficiently.

Hi-'S' Photo

The Hi-‘S’ Range

The Hi-'S' rods are fast or semi-fast actions utilising perhaps the best Japanese carbon available. These rods have a Low Resin 40t with a 1k weave in 24t giving them an attractive finish. Benefits are very slim, lightweight but stiff blanks, which have crisp responsive actions. They will 'assist' the average caster and good caster alike, as they have a very fast tip recovery, but are still relatively soft to aid fish playing. The range features the 'Perdurable' blank finish for a lifetime of service and good looks. We use this material for carp, specialist and specialist float rods. The range is hand built in the U.K.

The ‘S’ Range

These rods are progressive and semi-progressive actions and are loved by anglers wanting good casting performance, but with the delights of fish playing. The 'S' Range blanks use top quality 36t Low Resin Japanese carbon with a highly attractive 24t weave in 3k and are very suitable all-rounders (except the X.S’ive). The blanks also have the 'Perdurable' (lifetime) blank finish to look good for many years. This top quality carbon is used for carp, specialist and stalking rods. These rods are also hand built in the U.K.

The E-Class

This new range utilises our experience of blank design to bring you very slim blanks with semi-fast and progressive actions, but at a more modest price. We use very high modulus 40t carbon from Korea to give the best blank performance we can for the money. This range also features the ''Perdurable' (lifetime) blank finish. The rods are imported ready built, but can also be hand built in the U.K. to specific requirements at a small extra cost. We offer this material for carp, specialist, specialist float and stalking rods.

The Tamer X-Wraps

This new range of rods is very affordable with progressive and semi-progressive actions that most anglers will find suitable. The blanks are made from a combination of 36t and 32t high modulus carbons and feature a very distinctive carbon X-Wrap with a subtle matt finish. The strong blanks are not quite as slim as the E-Class, but are very light. These rods can be custom built in the U.K. at a small extra cost. We offer both carp and specialist rods in this finish.

Pike & Cat Tamers

We have developed this range utilising slim, strong blanks with the 'Perdurable' blank finish to suit the hard life that these rods tend to get on the bank. Special 4 leg guides feature on these rods for extra strength. We also make carp and specialist travel rods.
