The New Cat Tamer ‘S’ Range and Pike Tamer ‘E’-Class

Featuring 3 rods in the range to suit most Cat fishing situations, this series has been designed and tested over the past two years with the help of some of the leading guides on the Ebro. The blanks, guides, fittings and build have been selected to suit the modern methods used to target Big Cats and have accounted for Cats up to 226lbs during the prototyping stages.

The blank has our 'Perdurable' blank finish and is built with Fuji Alconite guides, a Fuji DPS-H22 seat, Hard EVA fore-grip but with an abbreviated handle behind the reel seat to suit the special rod holders in common use for 'Catting'. We supply two butt grips that can be interchanged – one hard EVA button and one with gimbel fitting should you wish to use a butt pad.

All the guide spacings have been designed with multipliers in mind so the braid does not touch the blank when in full battle curve. However they can also be used with fixed spool reels.

The BAD Cat

With a casting weight of 150 to 400g this rod is designed with the biggest of Cats in mind. At 10' (3.0m) this is suitable for bank fishing and designed to fit into the special rod holders used on big rivers such as the Ebro

The New Cat Tamer Sport

The Cat Tamer Sport has been specially designed for handling large Cats and at although at 10' in length it makes a good bank rod. These rods have landed cats to 212lb as well as Tarpon, Mahseer, Nile Perch, Vundu Cats and Alligator Gar. They are also the choice of Gillham's Fishing Resorts where they have accounted for a number of world records and species including Mekong Catfish, Arapaima and Siamese Carp. The casting weight is 100 to 300g.

The Boat Cat

At 8' long this has been specially designed for boat fishing for Big Cats. Built with two equal sections and with multiplier reels in mind this rod will also cope with many other species. Casting weight is 150 to 400g.

Pike Tamer 'E'-Class

Artificial Bait Rods

The Multi-Range is the all-rounders tool capable of casting baits up to 5oz easily with very progressive action to avoid 'cast offs'. The Big Bait is the tool for hurling big frozen mackerel to the horizon but is still progressive enough to withstand the use of soft skin baits.

There are two 10ft boat versions: a standard rod with a test of 2½lb, good for the majority of boat piking and an S.U. for heavy boat work such as on the Thurne where heavy flows and tidal pulls are common. Both feature sensitive tips for bottom bouncing and power in the middle to butt to help subdue big fish. They can also be put to good use casting big spoons and plugs.

All three rods are built on full ground 36t carbon blanks. The 8'6" lure rod is light in weight and a joy to fish with and is finished with the same S-Lite rings and fittings as the Tamer pike range. The Jerk Bait rods have Trigger seats cut away underneath to feel the blank and our special 4leg S-Lite low cradle guides. This pattern has been specially designed for extra strength to combat the hard knocks these rods will get in and out of boats.

The Jerk Baits come in two ratings and are suitable for all big plugs, lures and jerk baits and are equally at home with braided lines or mono although we recommend braids of 50lb plus to get the best action out of large jerk baits and lures.
